An Insight into the History of the Territorial Defence of the Municipality of Brežice

Between 1968 and 1991, the Slovenian Territorial Defence went from being a reserve army and a component of the Armed Forces of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, intended to operate in case of war and external threats to the Slovenian nation, to an armed force of the Slovenian nation and a state army, which successfully secured the plebiscitary decision of Slovenians regarding their independence and sovereignty in 1991 and won the war against the Yugoslav People’s Army.
